I truly welcome everyone back! It’s been a long break since finishing the solo lab at southern utah university, but with tremendous build up and cooped up spirits, it’s time to begin a new semester of flying. This semester I will be completing my private pilot certificate, although it’s quite a longer semester than I realized. I will be gaining solo flight hours in a cross country flight, a night flight and a towered solo in class Delta airspace!
We began the semester out my covering a ton of Federal Aviation Regulations out of parts 61 and 91 to which I hope to memorize within the next month. We’ve also covered who the National Transportation Safety Board is and when we are required to report incidents to them; what is an incident and what is considered an accident. Accidents carry their own definitions of serious injuries and serious damages naturally…..images one hopes they will never face first hand.
We created an acronym for what’s considered a serious injury:
Bob – broken bones
Burns – 2nd or 3rd degree burns or burns covering 5% of the body or more
In – Internal organ damage
The – Tendon, hemorrhaging or nerve damage
Hospital – hospitalization for more than 48 hours within 7 days of the accident
